R.I.P Red Plastic Love Heart

It breaks MY heart to have to say goodbye to my all time favourite charm - I have finally run out of the fabulous 1980s red plastic love hearts. Aaarrrggghhh! I sourced these cuties over two years ago and came home with over 1000 of them. Long term fans of Lady Luck jewellery will have seen them happily swinging away on many of my designs - all of the chain brooches (Debbie Does pictured below left), Atomic, Bunny Love, Zippy Zappa, Satisfaction, Lookin' for a Kiss...I could go on all day!

RIP-red-love-heart.jpg

I thought I'd better make you guys aware of this as it explains the disappearance of the whole "I Heart Badges" collection (which will be replaced next week by Pin Me Down), Lookin' for a Kiss and Tumbling dice have already sold out too. I now just have a handful of items left with this charm on. If you've always fancied a Sunday Girl or a Rapture singlet (pictured above right) then you'd better snap one up fast!

RIP-2.jpg

On the bright side, I've been a busy bee reworking all these designs with exciting new charms. So stay tuned as I will be adding lots of new items as the old ones disappear. So far this week I have added a set of Crazy Crayon single earrings (above left) and Roller Derby necklaces (above right). The Ramones and Stereo pin (above centre) is a sneek peak of how the chain brooches will now look, and will be hitting the site very soon...

You can get similar, but bigger looking, plastic hearts in the 'dress it up' buttons range in the 'music' packet. ( But unfortunately you only get 2 to a pack not 1000! and they're not original 80's wear)I love everything u make, it inspires me big style!!

The red plastic love hearts are absolutely adorable so it's such a shame that your supplies have come to an end but keep up the good work 'cos the new items are fab! esp. the roller derby necklaces.

Thanks for all the sympathy guys...the good news is I have just sourced a 1980s rainbow heart with jewel detail and have lots of 'em coming! As soon as they arrive I'll put a photo on the site.

Natalie - cut and paste this web address onto your web window and I think you'll find just what you need: http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/trolleyed/16/208/index.htm

seeya loveya bye! xXxXx

Posted by: elliebagz on June 5, 2005 11:52 AM

I love hearing all your stories! It's always good to hear packages have arrived safely too - the Post Office aren't in my good books.

So, deadstock, hmmm. I seem to spend my life searching for this stuff, which is cool because when I find what I'm after it's super satisfying! I think you should start by searching all your local charity shops: you can do a search in yell.com to find all of them in your area. I would also get my ass down to jumble and car boot sales most weekends (oh that's what I do already) and most of all cross your fingers and think of Lady Luck! xx

Posted by: leona on June 5, 2005 5:52 PM

Yeaaah

Posted by: Isabel (Ecuador) on June 8, 2005 4:05 AM

Righty-o, I have alot of questions to answer so lets get down to it...

Rawk chick - yikes! All these styles have sold out, and that's what happens when something is featured in Cosmo Girl it just sells out within the week. You could call some of the shops who stock my products. For instance, if you're after the Lets Dance, Dragonfly in Camden still have them and they will do mail order for you. Their details are on the stockist page.

Emma - I love the flea markets in Paris, my fave is the one at Porte de Clignancourt, officially called Les Pues de Saint-Ouen. Go to this website and you can read all about it - http://www.parisperfect.com/

Hazel - I imported two badge making machines from America and with the cost of the badge parts, shipping and the killer customs charge they came to about £1000. So, I'm guessing you don't wanna pay this much, have you tried Hobbycraft?

Isabel - I LOVE DEVO - so watch this space...

Jessie - lovely to hear from an Australian gal and I'm dead happy you found my stuff in Midwest Trader. I'm about to sell to Seventeen...

xxxxxxx

I am v.pleased to inform you that whilst flicking through my latest copy of ElleGirl I spied one of your necklaces!
ElleGirl does a feature thats basically 'street style' Its about girls that are picked at random to have a photo taken purely because of their fab dress sense! One of these girls was 19 and originally from Hong Kong but was shopping in London and hanging around her neck was a necklace featuring Ursala and a red plastic love heart!
It looked fab with what she was wearing! Go you!

Posted by: Jade on June 22, 2005 3:06 PM
