Cockles, Carboots and Clacton

Sam and I both have little pink noses today because we were livin' it up seaside style at the weekend in Clacton-On-Sea. The major draw was the Sunday carboot sale but we're also both fascinated by decaying British seaside towns - especially a little out of season. We had a nice dinner on Saturday night and then let rip in the Vegas style Pier Avenue which houses 2 huge arcades "Magic City" and "Gaiety Arcade". You gotta love the copper canyon!

First light on Sunday we took a stroll on the beach and then hotfooted it to the carboot. After a slow start I managed to fill my Minnie Mouse shopper to the brim! I purchased 4 1970s Girl Guide annuals (I'm brewing a LLROK patches collection); a hand knitted sailor boy complete with HMS hat for 50p; a selection of 1980s keyrings; 3 owls; 1 gold bambi statue; an army officers hat and 2 unworn stripy jersey cardigans in candy pink and sky blue - 1960s St Michael (Marks and Spencer) no less. We then began snapping up trashy trinkets on the pier whilst consuming lots of ice cream, coconut ice and candy floss. I'm now the proud owner of a gold "supergirl" necklace, sailors cap and a pair of cheapo seaside flip flops with blue plastic toe thong.

Most fun of all was playing the pinball machines - I am a pinball wizard and the "funhouse" graphics are awesome!

I love going to the seaside. But only when the weather is nice, not like when i went to bournemouth in march - it was freezing!

Your weekend sounds ace- fading seaside towns are fantastico espically when they involve boot sales!
My weekend was spent down in Hastings on my yearly trip to the local holiday park! Friday Night we arrived in St.Leonards and enjoyed a night of tacky entertainment in the complex...i loved the fame style show they put on:)
Then Saturday was spent in town sunning ourselves on the beach and buying tacky souveniers on the pier whilst eating 99 cones.
Then Sunday we went to explore Beachy Head and spent another day exploring the old town of Hastings with it's lovely speciality shops and junk stores were i purchased a wide eyed dog ornament and 2 mini bambi figurines for the princely sum of 1.00!!!!! Then we drove to the local carboot where i purchased a kiddies tomy sewing machine from the eighties a wide eyed girl picture holding a kitten and some craft books!!!
And then Monday we went into Hastings and up the west cliff on the very old lift and enjoyed a fish and chip meal at the top of the hill whilst feeding sea gulls.
I also went to my first ever roller disco which was so much fun and I have just come back in from roller skating around my area!

Bring on the patches!!! I remember suggesting patches when I filled out the lovely survey. They will be brilliant of that I am sure, a wicked way to update a tired jacket or make an old pair of jeans look supercool. Anyway it's my birthday today so I think I will console myself and buy some bits and pieces - but what to choose?!!

I like going to the seaside too, but the atmospheare in Sicilian seaside towns is veeery different!
Unfortunately here I've never seen a carboot sale. I think I'm missing a big piece of fun :(

My weekend was sad! Friday night was cheese and wine night at my school (basically it's the last event before everyone leaves forever so it was very sad!!). Saturday was work...woo. Don't you just love selling newspapers. We had some lovely abusive drunk customers so that was fun too. Sunday was spent avoiding revision and getting very very paniced about my French Exam!

Yay for trips to the seaside (though I haven't been for a long time). Sounds like a fab weekend. It reminded me of when my boyf and I first got together six years ago and we jumped on a train to the both gloriously and tragically tacky Great Yarmouth. We spent hours on those 2p machines and I won a green and purple, furry leopard print purse and a smiley corn-on-the-cob keyring. We must go again this year I reckon.

Patches, ooh great idea... will there be rainbows? Please!

I just want to say, make your tights bigger, they're all fattiest! not everyone "fits up to a UK size 12"! humph!
