I can finally announce the secret project we've been working on (since June!) and the most exciting thing that's ever happened to Lady Luck Rules OK...da da da...we signed the lease on a shop today! Hurrah! Hurrah! It's going to be a shop/studio space that my friend Gemma and I work from and also sell and showcase all our goodies! We found the property in June and we've been wrangling over the lease for 5 months...it's been quite traumatic. Today we went to the solicitors and finally signed on the dotted line and then hot footed it over to the shop to meet with our electrician and flooring guy. The shop has been empty for a few years so we have to do a complete shop fit. We've already snapped up some vintage shop fittings from Ebay and an auction house and now we're designing our own wallpaper and pop art shelving.
Sclater street itself is off Brick Lane in East London (just a 20 minute bicycle ride from my front door) and we'll be joining a few established independents including Lik and Neon and The Lazy Ones and a record store opened up last week called Beats Workin' Records. Right next door is a dinky coffee/internet shop and the other side is a second hand furniture guy called Dublin Jim - who's mates with Pete Doherty. Today as we were waiting for the keys the man himself sauntered past and stopped to talk to Jim - I'll find out what he said on Monday!
I'm going to document everything we do with the shop through my online journal and you'll see the exciting transformation - these first pictures are of the outside (with the two new happy owners) and I'll take some photos of the inside too before we start painting. We're back at the shop on Monday to meet with shutter people and discuss paint swatches and draw up an action plan. We hope to be open in about 5 weeks, but I'll have a more solid launch date in a few weeks time and you're all invited! Yippee!

lol oh my jesus i so can't wait i've been longigng for the day you opened a shop for ageeeeesssssss! it's gonna be the most fantastic most gorgeous most incredible shop in the history of the world and you can bet that i'll be spending most of my weekends browsing it! wow leona i'm so happy for you! im wetting my pants with excitement!!! are you gonna be selling any of your thrifty treasures you source from car boots too? do u need any shop helpers lol i'll gladly help you for free just for the experience

wah! congratulations, that is fab news...I wish you had a shop in Liverpool too *sheds a single tear in despair* I hope everything runs smoothly for you, Im sure it will... anyway I actually have money now!!! woop! so im going to order meself some goodies!!

Also, got my divine Groove is in the Heart necklace and super-kewl badge The Lick. Loving the cute little trio of badges you put in. Thanx, doll! Plus, today I got my fabuloso PARIS badge set from Champion and it is way better in real life than in the pix so I'm well chuffed!
P.S. Now that you have a shop,puh-leeze don't go all super-expensive on us like Tatty Devine. What would I do without you in my price range? My outfits would be all bare and un-accessorized!!

Bonjour! Received my red Heart Of Glass necklace on Thursday and i absolutely love it - Thank you! Wore it with some red beads and black and white 60's dress on friday night and got oodles of compliments on it - i obviously pointed them all in the Lady Luck direction!

The legendary punk club CBGBs which gave birth to a heap of bands like the Ramones, Blondie and countless others is in risk of closing so far they are still open but without a lease, their landlords are making a whole bunch of stupid demands! I am nothin official or anything 2 do with CBGBs just trying to help as much as i can i really respect and love that place so im just suggesting yas all go to www.savecbgb.org! ya can read whats happenin officially and sign a petition to help them stay open!!
well i haven't heard of the CBGBs but it sounds like they paved the way for billions of gr8 bands out there so i guess it's a worthy cause! I'm on it!
