We'll be returning to the crazy chaos and shopping frenzy that is the Clothes Show Live at the NEC in Birmingham. It was our first show last year and we were completely overwhelmed by the crowds of excited Lady Luck Rules OK customers. This year we're back with a bigger stand and oodles of products at extra special low prices...plus an all new Lady Luck Rules OK black tote bag which is FREE FREE FREE when you spend £15 or more. This tote will never be available to buy so bag it while you can! Head straight to stand PU243 in the purple zone in hall 6.
Ever wanted to design your very own badge? Now you can! While we're at the Clothes Show Live we've been invited to host a series of Badge-A-Rama workshops on the Myspace Bus. Customers are invited to collect as many templates as they like from the Badge-A-Rama table along with a handful of pencils and pens and then it's doodle time! We'll make up to 5 designs into natty little pin badges. The workshops are free (!) and registration will be between 9am and 10am on the day. Workshops will take place at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2.30pm and 4pm and last about 45 minutes to an hour. Places are limited to only 20 people per workshop so try to register as soon as the show opens!
Creeping closer to the day of yule tide itself we're delighted to announce we've been invited to host a whole room of crafting fun at the Design Grotto at Somerset House. The event will be bursting with London's most exciting creative talent with stalls, workshops, unique gifts for under £20 and a bucket-load of traditional festive cheer. Lady Luck Rules OK will host Craft It Up! - a room dedicated to our new range of fashion filled craft kits containing materials, instructions and templates to make a wide range of ace accessories. We hope customers will stay and make their goodies with us and we’ll be on hand with all the equipment needed, expert advice and fun examples we made earlier. The event is free to attend and open from 6pm til 11pm on Saturday 15th December with DJs and drinks and 11am til 6pm on Sunday 16th December. Hope you can make it!

We've been busy little elves this week designing and making Superette's Christmas window display. Belinda and Vicky our crazy interns created a kooky Christmas tale of feuding buddies Frosty the grizzly snowman and Ginge the gingerbreadman who had fallen out over Bunty our party frock wearing mannequin. Frosty has a candy cane dagger and Ginge has a pistol and a crowd of angry snowflakes have gathered to watch the chivalrous showdown...
...unfortunately Ginge isn't behaving himself and has refused to stand up so at the moment it looks like Frosty is lucky in love this christmas time! I must say a big ole thank-you to our fave knitter Kandy Diamond who at the drop of a hat whipped us up a pistol and candy cane dagger and don't they look ace! We hope you can drop by Superette some time and see it in person. The eagle eyed among you may have noticed the new Reko frock on Bunty...we'll be adding lots of new Reko party frocks to the site tomorrow - yippee!
Hello, hello, hello - what's going on here then? When we first moved into our shop in Sclater street, Superette was next door to a condemned building, home to overgrown weeds and a family of foxes. Until this summer, it was boarded shut, crumbling and unloved. Then one night on the way home from a meal in one of Brick Lane's famed curry houses, we were invited in through the front door by a tall sharp dude wearing tartan check trousers and green snakeskin boots. We went inside; it was dark and damp, dimly lit by candlelight and morbid charcoal skull drawings stared at us from the wall.
A few nights later, we held the launch of our newly refurbished Superette - you can read about it here. Andre, the gallery owner called by to see how our shop was looking. This time he was wearing a fur jacket and two diver's watches on his left arm. He told us he'd changed the locks on the doors and thereby secured squatter's rights to open up the Sclater Street Art Gallery. And he was planning to live above it. We weren't sure that it was structurally sound, but he felt confident enough to give it a try.
Over the past few months he's raided skips, rescued discarded furniture, mended broken chairs - you won't believe what some people will throw away - and fitted out the main room with comfortable seating and a cocktail bar. Only, the sign above the door proclaims "This is Not a Bar". Because selling beer and providing a speakeasy for people to smoke in until the early hours would be illegal. His opening hours are 9pm - 3am Thursday - Sunday.
His latest surprise was to invite local graffiti artists to pimp his crib for Halloween, making it the most photographed building in the Hoxton / Shoreditch / Brick Lane playground. Our shop is sandwiched between this building, and the heavily grafittied railway arches that run all the way to Bethnal Green Road and Shoreditch High Street. It's easily the most colourful street in East London, drawing crowds from the Media hungry for an eyeball-scorching backdrop - we've lost count of the fashion photo-shoots and low-budget pop promos we've dodged past on the way to the bagel shop.
We've been enjoying Andre's antics, his unique dress sense (today, silver welder's goggles, mohawk and leather jumpsuit) and the audacity of his enterprise. So, is it a squat? Is it an art gallery? Is it a bar? Well, we're still not sure... Those windows don't look too well insulated and with no electricity, he's going to find it a cold winter, but we hope he'll stay longer and keep bamboozling us.
Here at Lady Luck it's *all* about the dinky winky charms! In homage to our (mild!) obsession, we've dreamed up 'Kaleido-Crazy' - a build-your-own crazy cool charm bracelet. Inspired by a mesmerising vintage kaleidoscope, the kit includes a treasure bag of 15 too cute technicolour charms, shiny gold chain and all the findings you'll need to boot. There's also lashings of made to measure ribbon - stitched extra-specially for us with the slogan "1,2,3...Made by Me!" - in hot pink script writing. Use the ribbon to loop and tie the bracelet into a big bow... and to make sure no one is in any doubt which crafting cutie made it!
Our natty instructions will help you whip the kit up into a one-of-a-kind jingly jangly piece, perfect for wearing as you trot about in your party pop princess frock, bright heels, clashing tights, wearing a splash of Luminous pink lippie or to simply jazz up your fave ratty old tee! 1,2...Made by You?! x
Kit includes: 15 quirky charms comprising of an anchor, peanut, dragonfly, heart, pea pod, kissing couple, mini star, elephant, ships wheel, palm tree, bow, diamond, sherrif's badge, corn and cherries! Colours may vary! Plus 2 x strips of woven ribbon, 17 x gold jump rings, 1 x 17.5cm length of gold chain and step-by-step instructions with illustrations. Belinda our ace intern has been picking and packing the kits today and squealing "It looks like candy!"

Ever wanted a cute card holder which could also show you how to make your own vintage style soft toy? Then get ready to meet Otto the Owl, Dotty the Dog, Hetty the Hedgehog & Ludwig the Lion, handmade by me Miss Penni Pants (I'm also Superette's weekend manager!). These four loveable characters can’t wait to go travelling with you, they can be used to hold your bus/oyster cards, student ID’s and yes even those bank cards that just don’t seem to fit in your purse! These new cute friends can also be made into your very own stuffed toy, as full instructions on how to bring them alive are included within the design. Unfortunately the patterns provided are not to scale but a photocopier should do the trick!
I first decided to make fun card holders to cheer up my dreary bus journeys, and whilst browsing through many vintage annuals and crafty books I stumbled upon some cute vintage toy making instructions and became inspired to transform them into a posse of retro looking card holders. By using the vintage toy pattern instructions this product is a double whammy! Not only do you get a cool new card holder but you can also make yourself a stuffed animal friend..which definitely suits the new crafty craze that has been buzzing through the Lady Luck Rules OK website.
So which of the posse will be your favourite?
Otto the Owl who tries to watch what he eats but is definitely a culprit for stealing all the cookies from the cookie jar.
Dotty the Dog who wishes she could join the circus and be a part of the clowning act but has an unfortunate fear of tents.
Hetty the Hedgehog a gal whose hairdo is so uncontrollable that she has already lost 56 hairbrushes within her tangled mess.
Or Ludwig the Lion a dapper and proud cat who likes to sip tea and chat about storys of yester-year and ponder about whether he needs a new wardrobe.
Hi, I'm Laura, part of the Lady Luck Rules OK team, and from now on you'll read some blog entries written by me too! But there'll be time to tell you about me later, let's just concentrate right now on these five über-cool ladies you all have to meet. What's better than waking up on a Sunday morning and watching cartoons on TV? Maybe watching cartoons that star really cool chicks! There's loads and loads of amazing cartoons that have girls as main characters, from Betty Boop to Totally Spies, from Scooby Doo to Dungeons and Dragons. But my five fave are...
1. Usagi Tsukino aka Sailor Moon. Usagi might seem clumsy and even a bit silly, but when needed she becomes Sailor Moon, a powerful fighter trying to save the Earth from the dark forces of evil. Her transformation sequence is one of the best things on cartoon ever!
2. JEM from Jem & The Holograms. Jem's Jerrica Benton alter-ego, a rock star that sings the catchiest tunes, wears the most amazing 80s clothes and still has time to do good. Truly outrageous!
3. She-Ra the Princess Of Power. Born as He-Man's twin sister, Princess Adora is part of a movement against Hordak's Evil Hordes. When in danger, she uses her magic sword and "For the honor of Grayskull" becomes She-Ra, a terrible warrior that rides the coolest Pegasus!
4. Penelope Pitstop from Wacky Races. Penelope might look innocent, but she's the only girl taking place in the Wacky Races and that must mean something! Always ready to win and to do it looking great, her car's not only super-fast but a Beauty Saloon too!
5. Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls. Saving the day, these three little girls are cuteness itself. Sugar, spice and everything nice were the ingredients to create the perfect heroines. Don't forget to catch the ending tune of the series by the Teen-C Heroes Bis!

In the sizzling snappy snaps above Peu our all new Lady Luck Rules OK model is wearing some of the ace accessories we've made from our bumper craft pack. Peu wandered into Superette last week to try on some Reko dresses and buy a crochet cupcake for a friend and we pretty much pounced on her! She gladly agreed to come back the following week and pull some poses for our crafty photoshoot and she did a great job, thanks Peu! Above left Peu is wearing the Rebel Raincloud felt necklace with googley eyes and also the fingerless gloves with gingham bow detail. Above right Peu wears the Bandit Bonnie Neckerchief and heart shaped Ace Playing Card Earring. You can make all these goodies plus 9 more in Around The World In 13 Makes! Click here!!
If you'd like to dip your toe into the crafting pool first we also have 3 single make kits you can try your hand at. Go Go Tokyo kit will make you a snazzy pair of pom pom socks. The kit includes step by step instructions with cute and helpful illustrations; a zingin' pair of cotton ankle socks and enough pink, white and black wool to make 2 plump pom poms. If you're more interested in keeping your ears tasty and toasty this winter then our From Russia with Love kit equips you with a snowy white pair of earmuffs along with 6 crazy colourful charms to customise them with. Our third mini kit Double Dutch includes a zingin' pair of fingerless gloves; black and white gingham fabric and the instructions to make big 'n' beautiful bow decorations. Every kit also includes a Lady Luck mini sewing kit keyring so you have a tape measure, a needle and enough thread to carry out your crafty tasks.
But wait that's not all - we have a festive fun craft kit which you’ll go crackers for! What’s more fun than receiving a gift? Why, receiving a surprise gift that includes a big BANG of course! With Lady Luck’s magical cracker kit you’ll be able to make 6 super sets of jewellery, and package them into sparkle pop crackers to give to your friends for Christmas! And best of all you can customise each piece of jewellery to your pal’s personality and give them a super fun surprise that’s totally original for them! We've also included 4 extra charms and enough jewellery parts to make some goodies for you too! You deserve it Chrismas crafter! Check 'em out, click here!
Most of the makes in our kits require a pair of flat nosed jewellery pliers, if you haven't got a pair you can purchase one right here! We also recommend lots of cups of tea to aid the crafting process! I hope you’ll enjoy your arty crafty trip around the world and you'll have oodles of ace accessories to wear and cherish for ever and ever. Lady Luck would like to say a huge thank you to all the gals ‘n’ guys involved in creating our very first Craft It Up collection. The Superette gang Becky Holmes, Ann-Louise Tingelof, Belinda Chen, Suzanne Williamson, Victoria Weir. The Graphics gang Sam Oakley and Laura Hernando. And a super jingley jangley thank you to Miss Leah Stewart - you truly are the queen bee of crafts and we couldn’t have done it without you. Happy Crafting y’all!
If you go down to the woods today be sure to keep an eye out for Rockin' Robin and Orly Owl . They're the rockin' and a boppin' all new Lady Luck Rules OK bubblegum style necklaces. Swaying low on eye popping rainbow cord which you can tie at whatever length you desire. They'll brighten up any ole outfit and look especially hot on a simple white tee (they like to stand out y'know) and sassy high waisted jean shorts look. You'll be the hottest chick-a-dee in the tree tops.
You'll also find Minnie Mushroom skulking about the place but be careful as you never know what mood she'll be in! Happy go lucky with rosy cheeks one minute and then blue as blue can be with teardrops falling and everything. Seriously, this is Lady Luck's first ever two sided necklace and we're pretty excited about it. When wearing mine I flip her round at regular intervals just to let my boyfriend know what kinda mood I'm in. Tee hee.
We had a very special visitor this week who came all the way from Derbyshire with her pink polka dotted bags stuffed full of handmade treasures just for the Lady Luck Rules OK website. It was the one and only Miss Kandy Diamond and yes it is her REAL name - I had to ask! As she stumbled through the doors of Superette we put the kettle on without delay and poured out the knitted knick knacks in a fit of excitement all over the table. It was a sea of candyfloss pink, cherry red pom poms and black and white keyboards. Is this love?
I had in fact met Kandy a few weeks earlier when we devised the range: Kandy Diamond for Lady Luck Rules OK - a limited edition collection of knitted accessories available only on our website incorporating our lipstick lightning bolt logo and shapes du jour: bows, candy canes and details such as musical notes and pom poms. We paid great attention to detail making sure the scarves are nice and long so you can wrap them around your neck and tie and the pom poms still hang low. The candy cane hair clips are nice and big to make a festive statement for the party season and the Bow Belles necklaces are pretty on both sides which mean it's reversible fun time.
Having received such wonderful goodies we had to make sure our model shots fitted the bill and Laura H our photographer called upon her pal and ex Bunty model Holly! With sleek black 60s bob, cherry red lips 'n' nails and adorable smile Holly air guitared and giggled all the way through the shoot and the photos are super cute. So when peeking through the new knitted knick knacks don't forget to click on the thumbnails underneath the writing as there are some crackin' photos and super stylin' tips. If you're wondering where Holly's crazy sweaters are all from well they're vintage crackers from beyondretro.com which we borrowed for the shoot. Thanks BR! Everything else is available to buy and with the evenings turning colder you'll need some fancy winter wonderland accessories to keep you warm and ready for snowball fights, ice skating and queuing for gigs in the freeeezing cold!
